u are not a city

by Donna Kuhn

i try to pretend yr not a city person

im sitting on a lawnchair with his wife

i dont like her baby in the window

im in a city; im in a city i do not know

i know u, u are from dance class

my my, yr looking polished

i know u are with the flowers

u are not a city person i do not like

dance the steps and i try and i do

in a city i dont know i say i do

it kind of looks like president bush is in the dance

mother cant learn the dance, her glass helmet shatters

president bush is in a dance that doesnt roll down

president bush shatters, someone takes the wheel off

i dont know how to dance

it kind of looks like philadelphia again

its somewhere like davis

when i am good, i am good

the president likes me or the flowers

i try to pretend u are not a city person

in a city like philadelphia
